PETALING JAYA: Shuttlers Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik have booked a spot in the men's doubles semi-finals in the China Open.

The duo eked out a hard-fought 19-21, 21-19, 21-11 win over compatriots Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium in Changzhou on Friday (Sept 8).

World No. 6 Aaron-Wooi Yik stayed composed in the face of huge pressure from independent pair and world No. 8 Yew Sin-Ee Yi to come through in a 62-minute battle.

"It's a good win as playing our own teammates is never easy," said Aaron.

It was Aaron-Wooi Yik's second successive semi-finals after winning bronze in the World Championships in Copenhagen last month.

The pair will take on either South Korea's reigning world champions Kang Min-hyuk-Seo Seung-jae or Indonesia's 2022 All-England winners Shohibul Fikri-Bagas Maulana for a place in the final.
