Aaron-Wooi Yik fall to shock defeat in Korean Open second round

PETALING JAYA: National men's doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik fell in a shock 21-19, 18-21, 19-21 defeat to Japan's Keiichiro Matsui-Yoshinori Takeuchi in the second round of the Korean Open at the Jinnam Stadium in Yeosu on Thursday (July 20).

World No. 4 Aaron-Wooi Yik was not expected to face much of a challenge against the world No. 34 Japanese pair but instead went down narrowly in a closely-fought match.

The defeat was a blow to Aaron-Wooi Yik, who were hoping to kick on after finishing runners-up in the Indonesian Open last month.

The pair will now look to do better in the Japan Open next week.
