Pearly-Thinaah skip Indonesian Open as precautionary measure

Rest first: M. Thinaah and Pearly Tan will take a break from Indonesian Open.

PETALING JAYA: Women doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah have withdrawn from the Indonesian Open in Jakarta.

It was decided on Monday that Pearly is still not at her best to play at a competitive level in the top-tier tournament starting on Tuesday.

Their participation had been doubtful after Pearly had injured her right elbow during the Singapore Open last week, where they had to concede a walkover to Japan’s Rin Iwanaga-Kie Nakanishi in the first round (21-13, 17-21, 16-9 rtd).

Said coach Hoon Thien How: "Pearly’s condition is improving but the decision is taken as a precautionary measure and allow the player to recover fully from the injury."
