Tze Yong crashes out of Asian Championships in first round

PETALING JAYA : National men's singles shuttler Ng Tze Yong has crashed out of the Asian Championships after losing 17-21, 18-21 to Hong Kong's Lee Cheuk Yiu in the first round in Dubai on Wednesday (April 26).

It was a disappointing defeat for world No. 25 Tze Yong, who defeated world No. 20 Cheuk Yiu in the Singapore Open last year.

Meanwhile, it was joy for mixed doubles pair and Orleans Masters champions Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, who toppled South Korea's world No. 10 Kim Won-ho-Jeong Na-eun 21-14, 21-13 to reach the second round.

It was sweet revenge for world No. 22 Tang Jie-Ee Wei, who had lost to the Koreans in last month's German Open.

However, they face a tricky task next against Indonesia's experienced duo Praveen Jordan-Melati Daeva.
