PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s Cheah Liek Hou was thrilled after winning his ninth consecutive title at the Bahrain Para Badminton International in Manama.
He was also pleased to win the doubles title with new partner Mohd Fareez Anuar yesterday.
“I’m happy to win my ninth straight individual title. Also this time, its even better as I managed to win the doubles title as well with Fareez,” said Liek Hou.
The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic gold medallist is now looking for more as he turns his attentions to the Dubai Para Badminton International which starts on Tuesday.
“I want to break my own record and create more history,” added Liek Hou.
Yesterday, in the SU5 men’s singles final, Liek Hou took only 24 minutes to beat Poland’s Bartlomiej Mroz 21-7, 21-12.
The 34-year-old then teamed up with Fareez to stun top seeds Chirag Baretha–Raj Kumar of India 14-21 21-19 21-7.
Liek Hou is now unbeaten in 49 men’s singles matches since losing to Indonesian Suryo Nugroho in the 2019 China Para-Badminton International final.
