Anna and Mei Xing just one step away from success

PETALING JAYA: Anna Cheong Ching Yik-Teoh Mei Xing brought some cheers when they marched into the final of the Syed Modi International.

The duo, seeded eighth, took only 26 minutes to beat Haritha Manazhiyil-Ashna Roy of India 21-18, 21-7 in the women’s doubles semi-finals in Lucknow yesterday and will play the winners of the match between Low Yeen Yuan-Valeree Siow and India’s Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand.

Yee Yuan-Valeree did well on Friday to beat compatriots Vivian Hoo-Lim Chiew Sien 17-21, 21-15, 21-19 in the quarter-finals.

In the men’s doubles, Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun will face M.R. Arjun-Dhruv Kapila of India for a place in the final.

Meanwhile, in the men’s singles, Cheam June Wei’s challenge ended in the last eight when he went down 11-21, 19-21 to Lucas Claerbout of France.
