BAM: Sale of property conducted properly and in the interest of BAM

IN our article dated Feb 27,2021, headlined “Do we need SOP to prevent another kind of virus for weakening Malaysian sports?”, we questioned the sale by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) of their property in Cheras worth RM52mil.

BAM has raised its concerns on the article, maintaining that it practised a high level of care, transparency and governance in arriving at its decision to sell the unutilised property and in undertaking the transaction.

We acknowledge there was a vague basis in making the insinuations in the article and regret not giving more lines to state BAM’s side of the story.

We apologise to BAM and its esteemed council members for the negative connotations and embarrassment caused by the article.
