Top players’ meltdowns in Basel alarm Choong Hann

Not up to mark: Lee Zii Jia was stunned by 19-year-old Thai wonderkid Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the Swiss Open semi-final.

PETALING JAYA: Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) coaching director Wong Choong Hann is quite concerned over another uninspiring performance dished out by top players Lee Zii Jia and Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik at last week’s Swiss Open.

The trio reached the semi-finals but their outings were still considered a big letdown as the respective national No. 1 men’s singles and men’s doubles players lost to opponents ranked lower than them.
