Olympic champion Tontowi retires

JAKARTA: Indonesian mixed doubles star Tontowi Ahmad has quit badminton just more than a year after his partner Liliyana Natsir retired from the sport.

Malaysian fans will never forget the 32-year-old Tontowi and Liliyana, 34, as the former world No. 1 pair spoiled Malaysia’s hopes of their first Olympics gold in 2016 when they defeated Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying 21-14,21-12 in the final in Rio.
