National No. 1 tames Chen Long in quarters

PETALING JAYA: National No. 1 Lee Zii Jia achieved probably the best ever result of his career, stunning China’s defending Olympic champion Chen Long (pic) and qualifying for the semi-finals of the All-England badminton championships.

The 21-year-old Malaysian put in a near flawless performance at the Arena Birmingham yesterday to beat the former world champion and world No. 5 21-12,21-18 in just 49 minutes to storm into the last four where he will meet either Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen or another Chinese Shi Yuqi.
