China’s Yufei is bent on holding on to the women’s world No. 1 ranking

In fine fettle: China’s Chen Yufei easily brushed aside Spain’s Carolina Marin in the women’s singles semi-final yesterday.

CHINA’S Chen Yufei underlined her single-minded focus to stay on as the world No. 1 player as long as she can by reaching the women’s singles final.

Yufei, who had only taken over the top spot in the world ranking for the first time from Taiwan’s Tai Tzu-ying three weeks ago, blew away 2016 Rio Olympic Games champion Carolina Marin of Spain with an impressive 21-15,21-14 win yesterday.
