PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying staged a magnificent fightback while Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie took a stroll as both mixed doubles pairs marched into the second round of the ongoing Hong Kong Open.

The independent pair of Peng Soon-Liu Ying ground out a 21-16,21-16 victory over world No. 18 Indonesian pair Rinov Rivaldy-Pitha Haningtyas Mentari but it was a heart-stopping encounter. The Malaysian world No. 6 pair were trailing in both games before winning.
