• INDIA JOIN ELITE GROUP, THANKS TO P. V. SINDHU
MALAYSIA can only look in awe and envy as India became the latest nation to boast a world champion after Sindhu claimed her long-overdue women’s singles title by demolishing Nozomi Okuhara of Japan. The win highlighted Sindhu’s perseverance and fighting spirit after playing the bridesmaid for a few years. Thanks to her single-minded determination, India is now the 11th nation, joining China, Indonesia, Denmark, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, England, Sweden, Spain and even the United States, who have won at least a gold at the world meet.
