Jacky and Fazriq advance in contrasting fashion at Asian Juniors

PETALING JAYA: Jacky Kok Jing Hong and recently crowned national Under-16 champion Muhd Fazriq Razif (pic) advanced into the second round at the Asian Junior Championships in Suzhou, China.

Jacky survived with a hard-earned 21-16, 24-22 win over China’s Ye Haokun in 45 minutes yesterday.

Fazriq had a better outing when he won comfortably 21-13, 21-6 against Mongolia’s Sanchirjav Lkhaasuren.

Another Malaysian, Lee Shun Yang, failed to advance when he fell to China’s Dong Tianyao 21-14, 13-21, 16-21.

In boy’s doubles, Ching Kai Feng-Loo Bing Kun cruised into the second round with a 21-10, 21-8 win over Bangladesh’s Moham­mad Hanif-Soad Khandokar Abdus.

In mixed doubles, Yap Roy King-Gan Jing Err, who received a first-round bye, defeated Hong Kong’s Hung Kuei Chun-Tsang Hiu Yan (Hkg) 21-19, 17-21, 22-20.
