Peng Soon: It was a struggle to come up with a decision to quit national team

PETALING JAYA: National mixed doubles shuttler Chan Peng Soon admitted that quitting the national team was one of the toughest decisions he made in his life.

The 30-year-old said he and partner Goh Liu Ying have thought about it for a long time before handing their resignations.

"I must say it was a struggle to come up with this tough decision. It was surely one of the most difficult decisions made, it wasn't made in a day or two," said Peng Soon when contacted in Guangzhou.

"I can't thank BAM enough for everything they have given me since I joined them in 2006. I am who I am today because of the national team.

"At this juncture, it's not convenient for me to share in details, we will do so when we return to Malaysia," he said on Sunday (Dec 16).

World No.6  Peng Soon-Liu Ying's shocking resignation from the Badminton Association of Malaysia came two days after they crashed out of the World Tour Finals in Guangzhou.
