PETALING JAYA: National men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia (pic) is on the brink of securing a back-to-back victory on the BWF Tour when he made it to the Korean Masters final.
The 20-year-old barely broke a sweat in his semi-final encounter against Thailand's Sittikhorn Thammasin, which lasted only a minute.
Zii Jia was leading 4-1 when his opponent decided to retire due to an ankle problem.
Sittikhorn was said to have twisted his ankle during his last eight win over Malaysia's Soong Joo Ven on Friday (Nov 30).
Zii Jia will face either top seed Son Wan-ho of South Korea in the title decider.
Last month, Zii Jia had marked his career breakthrough by capturing the Taiwan Open. However, a persistent injury forced him out for three weeks before returning to participate in Korea this week.
Goh Jin Wei fell short in her bid to reach the first World Tour final when her gallant run was ended by 2012 London Olympics champion Li Xuerui of China.
The two-time world junior champion went down fighting 21-23, 21-10, 14-21.
