Tang Jie-Yen Wei, seeded third, face another Korean hurdle Choi Sol-gyu-Shin Seung-chan for a place in the quarter-finals tomorrow.
Also winning their opening round match yesterday was the Malaysian-Indonesian mixed doubles combination of Mohd Arif Abdul Latif-Rusydina Antardayu Riodingin.
Arif-Antardayu defeated Americans Mathew Fogarty-Isabel Zhong 21-9, 21-16 and will take on Taiwan pair Tseng Min-hao-Lin Jhih-yun in the second round tomorrow.
Another Malaysian mixed doubles pair Hoo Pang Ron-Cheah Yee See will play South Koreans Kim Duk-young-Chang Ye-na in the first round today.
In the men’s doubles, Rio Olympics silver medallist Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong will be out to avoid an embarassing first round exit when they take on Taiwan pair Lee Sheng-mu-Yang Po-hsuan.
