PETALING JAYA: Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie kept the Malaysian flag flying at the German Open by reaching the semi-finals.
The national No. 1 men's doubles shuttlers V Shem-Wee Kiong defeated Mads Conrad-Petersen-Mads Pieler Kolding 21-19 in the first game before the Danes retired after trailing 7-13 in the second in Mulheim on Friday (March 9).
V Shem-Wee Kiong face Takuto Inoue-Yuki Kaneko of Japan in the semi-finals next and will be out for revenge after losing to them once at the Australian Open in June last year.
Meanwhile, third seeds Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie fought brilliantly to beat Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai of Thailand 21-14, 18-21, 23-21 in their mixed doubles quarter-final match.
However, the pair have a tricky match against Choi Solgyu-Chae Yoo-jung of South Korea next.
