Jun Hao bags Asian Junior singles title

PETALING JAYA: Leong Jun Hao played superbly to win the boys’ singles title at the Asian Junior Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The 18-year-old shuttler battled for one hour and 14 minutes to beat Bai Yupeng of China 21-6, 20-22, 21-17 in the boys’ singles final on Sunday.

Jun Hao’s win ends Malaysia’s four-year wait for a singles title at the Asian junior badminton level.

The last Malaysian to win the title was Soo Teck Zhi at the 2013 edition in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
