PETALING JAYA: Shuttler Hans-Kristian Vittinghus lifted his first Superseries title after beating South Korean Jeon Hyeok-jin at the Australian Open in Sydney.

The 30-year-old Vittinghus, who helped Denmark clinch their first-ever Thomas Cup title in China last month, dashed Hyeok-jin’s hopes of a birthday gift by winning 21-16, 19-21, 21-11 in the men’s singles final on Sunday. The Korean turns 21 on Monday.
