KUALA LUMPUR: National junior Leong Jun Hao delivered a matured show to help Klang United Badminton secure their first win in the Resorts World Genting Purple League.
The 16-year-old Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) student gave Klang a flying start on Saturday by beating Mohd Razlan Shah of Bangsar Hawks BC 11-6, 11-7, 11-5 at the Sports Arena Sentosa in Jalan Klang Lama.
Boosted by the win in the first men’s singles tie, Klang United strolled to a comfortable 12-6 win. It was Bangsar Hawks’ first loss of the season.
In another match, national back-up shuttler Lim Chi Wing of Serdang BC delivered a fine performance to stun Indonesia’s world No. 24 Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka.
The 20-year-old Chi Wing won 11-7, 6-11, 3-11, 11-10, 11-0 as Serdang rallied for a narrow 12-9 win over Ampang Jaya BC.
