Boonsak powers Nusajaya to victory in Purple League opener

PETALING JAYA: Thailand’s Boonsak Ponsana was the toast of Nusajaya BC as the Johor outfit stunned last year’s runners-up Petaling Jaya BC 11-8 on the opening day of the Resorts World Genting Purple League.

The world No. 30 Boonsak beat Muhd Hafiz Hashim 7-11, 11-10, 11-4, 11-10 in the fifth and final tie to ensure his team, who finished 10th last season, got off to the best possible start in the second season of the badminton league at the Sports Arena Sentosa in Jalan Klang Lama on Wednesday.
