PETALING JAYA: Kepong Badminton Club and Cheras Badminton Club are the early pace-setters of the Junior Purple League.
Both teams notched their second straight wins with Kepong whipping Petaling Jaya BC 12-6 at home while Cheras handed defending champions Serdang BC their second straight loss with a 11-7 victory.
The rankings of the 11-team league will be decided by the number of games won against games lost by each club.
Kepong, who picked up 22 games against 14 conceded, lead the standings on eight points, one ahead of Cheras (21-15).
The league will run for two months on a home-and-away basis. It serves as a curtain raiser to the Kopiko Purple League, which will be held in October.
Last year, Serdang BC emerged as junior champions to lift the Rookie Cup. Then, the tournament was held over two days.
