Nozomi shows world champ the exit in HK Open

Japanese badminton player Nozomi Okuhara is in the final of the Hong Kong Open.

PETALING JAYA: World No. 2 Chen Long squeezed into his second Hong Kong Open final but it was Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara who stole the limelight in women’s singles.

Okuhara, the 2012 world junior champion whose career was threatened by at least two major knee injuries, was in sparkling form as she handed fifth seed and world champion Carolina Marin of Spain a 21-13, 21-9 thrashing in the semi-finals on Saturday.
