India and Canada finally win gold in badminton singles


GLASGOW: India’s P. Kashyap and Canada’s Michelle Li were jumping for joy after ending their countries’ 32-year wait for a gold medal at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

On Sunday, the 27-year-old Kashyap, who had previously choked in major championships, stood firm to beat Singapore’s Derek Wong 21-14, 11-21, 21-19.
