Simon clinches Indonesia Open title


KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesian Simon Santoso showed that he has not lost his touch, strolling to the men’s singles title at the Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold in Jogyakarta on Sunday.

The 28-year-old Simon, struggling for form for the past one year, defeated compatriot Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka 21-17, 21-11 in the final.

Hosts Indonesia also picked up two other crowns.

Praveen Jordan teamed up with seasoned campaigner Vita Ma- rissa to edge world champions Ahmad Tontowi-Lilyana Natsir 22-20, 9-21, 21-14 in the mixed doubles final. 

Indonesia showed that they have depth in the men’s doubles when Angga Pratama-Ryan Agung Saputra defeated Ronald Alexander-Selvanus Geh 17-21, 21-15, 21-16 in a final between two young and rising pairs.
