Chong Wei to skip Singapore Open to prepare for world tourney

Lee Chong Wei

PETALING JAYA: World No. 1 shuttler Lee Chong Wei will not compete in the Singapore Open from June 18-23 in order to be in tip top shape for the World Championships, which will be held in Guangzhou, China, from Aug 5-11.

The Singapore Open is the last Super Series tournament before the world meet and Chong Wei intends to stay free of any injuries as he seeks to win the elusive world crown after falling short in the final two years ago.
