Wei Feng downs Daren to win first local title

PETALING JAYA: World No. 13 Chong Wei Feng dashed Liew Daren’s hopes of winning his first local men’s singles title at the Kedah Open badminton championships at the Kedah BA Hall in Alor Setar yesterday.

Cheered by a vociferous home crowd, a pumped-up Wei Feng held off world No. 12 and French Open champion Daren to win 21-13, 16-21, 21-17. It was Wei Feng’s third local title, having won the Kuala Lumpur Open in 2011 and Selangor Open last year.
