KUALA LUMPUR: Kidslympic Malaysia ushered in the Lunar New Year in vibrant fashion with the launch of the Kidslympic Malaysia Run – Chinese New Year (CNY) edition, a festive family run promoting healthy living, active childhoods and multicultural unity.
Held at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, the CNY edition marked a special milestone for Kidslympic Malaysia, blending sports, culture, and community spirit into a vibrant celebration for children and families of all backgrounds.
Organised by Kidslympic Malaysia, with the support of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and strategic partners including Mango, the event forms part of Kidslympic’s broader mission to build Malaysia’s largest youth sports movement while nurturing the next generation through sport, values, and inclusivity.
The Kidslympic Malaysia Run CNY edition featured child-friendly run categories, family participation segments, festive activations, cultural performances, and CNY-themed experiences which created a joyful environment where children were able to stay active while celebrating tradition.
With participants dressed in red, festive decor throughout the venue, and activities inspired by Chinese New Year values such as prosperity, unity, and good health, the event reflected Malaysia’s rich multicultural identity.
“The Kidslympic Malaysia Run CNY edition is more than just a run - it was a celebration of family, culture, and active living," said former national shuttler and Olympic silver medallist, Goh Liu Ying, co-founder of Kidslympic Malaysia.
"We wanted children to associate sport with joy, togetherness, and positive memories."
The CNY edition also served as an official opening activation for Kidslympic Malaysia 2026, reinforcing its role as a national platform for grassroots sports development.
Through its runs, school tours, and multi-sport programmes, Kidslympic continues to support national objectives in youth development, health, and community engagement.
DBKL’s involvement further strengthens the initiative’s commitment to creating accessible, safe, and family-oriented urban sporting events.
