Peerless: Shereen and Azeem top their respective events at the Malaysian Open.

PETALING JAYA: Perak’s track and field stars Mohd Azeem Fahmi and Shereen Samson Vallabouy won their respective men’s 100m and women’s 400m events at the Malaysian Open but they fell short of qualifying for the Olympic Games on merit.

The 20-year-old Azeem posted 10.42s to win gold at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan yesterday but his time was a far cry from his national record of 10.09s.
