Mixed fortunes for Azeem in Tom Jones athletics meet

PETALING JAYA: It was a day of mixed fortunes for national sprinter Mohd Azeem Fahmi as he reaped success in the team event but faltered in the individual race at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Florida on Saturday.

The 19-year-old claimed the gold medal for Auburn University in the men’s 4x100m race together with teammates Favour Ashe, Dario Matau, and Kanyinsola Ajayi with their time of 38.64s, ahead of Louisiana State University (38.93) and third placed University of Kentucky (38.96).
