For coach Lau, there’s no retirement from quest to unearth new talents

Record-breaking: Umar Osman celebrating with his coach Simon Lau after winning the SEA Games gold in Cambodia last year.

PETALING JAYA: Growing up in Batu Kawan, Penang, Simon Lau was a jack of all trades in athletics and that was possibly the reason why he never excelled in any particular event during his schooldays.

Simon ran from 100m up to 5,000m and also took part in field events but by his own admission, he says he was not good enough to represent the state.
