Cramps spoil Azeem’s party in Florida

Slowed down: Azeem, who turned 19 on April 29, believed that he could have rewritten his national record of 10.09s after a strong 60m dash.

PETALING JAYA: Sprinter Mohd Azeem Fahmi had wished for a perfect 19th birthday celebration but cramps on both calf muscles spoiled his party.

He suffered the cramps with 30m more to go in the 100m race in the East Coast Relays at the University of South Florida on Saturday, but still went on to complete the race with a good time of 10.14s to finish sixth.
