The coach who made giants in athletics

He ate well, trained well: J.V. Jayan was a disciplinarian and no-nonsense coach.

PETALING JAYA: Former national hurdler Nur Herman Majid is a Malaysian legend in his event, having won six consecutive SEA Games gold medals from 1991 to 2001, a gold in the Asian Championships in 1991 and a bronze in the 1994 Asian Games in Hiroshima.

But he would never even have made it as an athlete but for J.V. Jayan.
