THE gold came from elsewhere, but silver medallist Andre Anura Anuar was the star performer of the Games. He was the only one to have broken the national record. With the exception of 100m winner Mohd Haiqal Hanafi, none of the other medal winners could even get a personal best.
The athletics team had already played it safe with a modest target of five golds but many of those targeted for gold did not deliver.
