Tan Sri Dr M. Jegathesan:

Tan Sri Dr M. Jegathesan, aka the “Flying Doctor”, is known for his prowess in athletics and his life-long dedication in the medical field. Jegathesan is the first Malaysian to win a gold medal in the 200m at the 1962 Jakarta Asian Games. The Asiad is returning to Indonesia after 56 years and StarSport’s RAJES PAUL decided to catch up with the Malaysian legend. What better way to inspire the Asiad-bound athletes than getting the man who sparked the glory days of athletics in the 1960s to share his moment of stardom.

Q: Can you describe how the Asian Games was in Jakarta in 1962 – in terms of facilities, the organisation and competition?
