Malaysian quartet break national record but settle for fourth

Going all out: Malaysia’s Jonathan Nyepa (third from left) making a dash after receiving the baton from Muhd Haiqal Hanafi in the men’s 4x100m final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil yesterday.

MALAYSIA did not have South-East Asia’s fastest man – Khairul Hafiz Jantan – in the men’s 4x100m final due to a thigh muscle injury.

But that did not stop the quartet of Muhd Haiqal Hanafi, Jonathan Nyepa, Badrul Hisyam Abdul Manap and Nixson Kennedy from breaking the national record by clocking 39.27 seconds at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil yesterday.
