Discus champ Irfan breaks national record in Germany, but misses podium

KUALA LUMPUR: Mohd Irfan Shamsuddin broke his national discus record twice at the Under-23 Hallesche Wefertage Open Athletics Championships in Germany.

The 20-year-old from Negri Sembilan, who went to Europe for a two-month training-cum-competition stint three weeks ago, recorded 58.21m in his first throw in Halle on Sunday. He then bettered the mark with a distance of 58.33m in his sixth and final throw to finish fourth in the two-day championships
