Ariana loses in first round as another archer bites the dust

PETALING JAYA: Archer Ariana Nur Dania Mohd Zairi's Olympic adventure ended after she was beaten 5-6 (27-27, 25-24, 27-28, 28-29, 29-27) by Italian Chiara Rebagliati in the first round of the women's recurve individual event at Les Invalides on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old from Kuala Lumpur was making her Olympic debut in Paris and thus joins Syaqiera Mashayikh on board the flight home.

Syaqiera reached the second round before succumbing 5-6 to Brazilian Ana Luiza Sliachhticas Caetano on Tuesday.

Only Olympic debutant Nurul Azreena Mohd Fazil is left in the fray and she is scheduled to play Elif Berra Gokkir of Turkiye next.
