BUTTERWORTH: A 43-year-old man was killed after he was repeatedly rammed by a car and then beaten by a friend in Taman Dahlia early on Wednesday morning (July 29). North Seberang Prai OCPD ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the deceased, identified as Lau Weng Heng, was pronounced dead at the scene with multiple wounds on his head and body in the 5.30am incident. He said police received a call about an accident between a motorcycle and a car in Taman Dahlia, Mak Mandin at about 5.52am. "When they arrived, police found a body lying on the road in a pool of blood in front of a car. "We believe the victim was rammed by the car from behind ," he told reporters at the crime scene. ACP Noorzainy said the accident resulted in the victim falling off his motorcycle. He was then continuously run over by the car driven by the suspect. "The suspect dragged the victim for about 15m before he got out from his car and beat the victim to death with a piece of wood," he said, adding that the victim was still alive when he was run over by the car. He added that the suspect then fled the scene. ACP Noorzainy said initial investigation found that both of the victim and suspect knew each other and had 13 counts between them on their criminal records. He said, acting on information from the public, police managed to detain the suspect in his 30s at his house in the same neighbourhood. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
KEPALA BATAS: A 30-year-old man who is believed to have been mentally unstable was killed on the spot when he allegedly shot himself with a pistol at Taman Seri Maklom, Seri Pinang Butterworth early Monday (July 27) morning.
