A SPECIAL Chinese New Year breakfast was organised by volunteers and student ambassadors from Institut Onn Ja’aafar at the Kuala Lumpur Homeless Transit Centre in Jalan Pahang.
THE Jom Bekpes morning soup kitchen campaign, which involves university and college students, is increasing its sessions to almost every week as more institutions want to sponsor breakfast for underprivileged children and homeless people in Kuala Lumpur.
Onn Ja’afar Institute (IOJ), a non-profit organisation that provides temporary relief and material aids for the poor and vulnerable, is giving out free breakfasts to underprivileged students of Sekolah Bimbingan Jalinan Kasih (SBJK) in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur, with Jom Bekpes.
NON-governmental organisation Institut Onn Ja’afar (IOJ) honoured the almost 1,000 student-volunteers of their “Jom Bekpes” morning soup-kitchen campaign who served breakfast to homeless people and underprivileged children in Kuala Lumpur this year.
Just before midnight, while most Malaysians were getting ready for bed, 44 students from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Melaka and Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) gathered at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur, to prepare food for 500 of the less fortunate in the city.
