Be disciplined and practice SOP, MPSepang chief warns visitors to Bagan Lalang beach
VISITOR turnout at the Bagan Lalang beach in Sepang has been very good since inter-district travel between Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor was allowed since Sept 16, but adherence to Covid-19 SOP by visitors has been poor. Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) president Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain expressed dissatisfaction over the adherence to SOPs by visitors to the district's hottest tourism area. Citing non-compliance with social distancing as an example, Abd Hamid said those who fail to comply with will be fined by enforcement officers patrolling the area. "It is not our intention to find fault with the public... but if they have not completed their vaccination doses or continue to flout health SOPs by not wearing a mask or adhering to social distancing rules, they cannot be here," said Abd Hamid at a press conference at the Bagan Lalang beach. Over the weekend, some 3,000 holidaymakers set up their tents and picnic baskets along the 300m stretch of beach. Abd Hamid said three teams comprising personnel from the MPSepang, police, health district office, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry, Civil Defence and Volunteer Corps would patrol the food court, hawker site, beach and parking areas. "The team, comprising some 40 personnel, will be checking the MySejahtera statuses of visitors, ensuring that social distancing is adhered to and that traders are carrying out temperature screenings and recording particulars of customers frequenting their premises," he said.
