Vibrations and sounds

MY 1990 Nissan Sunny 130Y has clocked 238,450km. About five years ago, the vehicle developed a problem that numerous mechanics cannot seem to solve. Every time after the clutch pedal is depressed, there is a knocking sound that seems to come from the engine as the pedal is being released. This happens irrespective of the gear engaged. Mechanics suggested renewing the engine mounts; I did that, but the problem remains. In fact, I now have an added problem #150; engine vibration. I am getting desperate.

‘Oiling’ the tappet

I DRIVE a Proton Wira 1.8 fitted with a 4G93 engine. It has approximately 180,000km on the clock and now sounds very #147;tappety#148;, especially after cold-starting in the morning. My friends who also drive the Proton Wira experience similar problems and we have been told by our respective mechanics that low viscosity oil is unsuitable for use in the 4G93 engine.
