Immigration officers ignorant of changes

Four years ago, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi sent out a directive that mothers could sign as guardians of their children on certain official forms, such as passport applications, but a number of civil servants still refuse to allow them to do so. Mothers run into problems when applying for their children's passport because old forms, defining the father as the guardian, were still being used at the Immigration Department offices.
