Blog to e-book

Wouldn't it be nice to snuggle in bed reading your favourite blog? A guide for those using e-book readers.

If there's one thing I love about the Reading Revolution is that I can now read my favourite blogs via my ebook reader. I really enjoy the convenience of reading them via my ultra-light Kindle; there's nothing more comforting and relaxing than reading my favourite blogs in bed before nodding off!

Also, if you're like me, I dislike reading from the computer screen. In the past, I would often only read a post of two because the glare gets to my eyes. Furthermore, when one discovers a good blog, one would like to read a few months' worth of posts and there's nothing more annoying that to do this via the computer screen.

Here are three powerful programs that can convert your favourite blogs into ebooks.

Ebookglue (

Created by 18-year-old Arizona State University student Shantanu Bala in late December last year, Ebookglue is a simple web application that will convert blog posts into an ebook. All you have to do is type the blog's address or RSS feed at You will be prompted to choose to have your e-in either epub or mobi formats. Once you've made the selection, the conversion will begin. Once done, the completed file will be downloaded to your computer. To read this on your ebook device, just transfer the file to your device.

Ebookglue also allows you to share the ebook with other people. If you're a blogger, this will be a handy way to share your blog content via e-book form because Ebookglue provides you a link that you can share with your readers.

Pros: Amazingly easy to use. Being a web-based application, you don't have to install a program in your computer to use it.

Cons: You can't control the number of posts you'd like to convert nor can you control from where you'd like the conversion to begin. Since it's still in its early few months, hopefully more features will be added.

dotEPUB (

If you only need to convert one webpage, dotEPUB will come handy. Just follow the installation instructions at Once done, a green dot will appear at the top panel of your browser. To convert a webpage, click that green dot and the ebook will be downloaded to your computer.

dotEPUB is really handy when you come across a web article you'd like to keep in your ebook reader. However, if you want to read several blog posts at once you'd have to go to each individual post to convert them. Although tedious, you'd be able to control what post you'd like to convert rather than download a whole bunch of posts you may not read.

Pros: Once installed, it is easy to use. It's also available for the iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.

Cons: You can only convert one webpage at a time and the installation process can be challenging - especially if you need to install it in Android devices.

Calibre (

This powerful program can do a whole lot of other things besides turning blogs into e-books. For one, it can convert ebooks into different formats (for example, epub into mobi), upload files to your ebook reader, download content from your favourite online magazines or newspapers, help search for titles in multiple ebook stores at once (and tell you how much they are so that you can compare prices) and organise your e-book library. Needless to say, this is a mighty useful program an e-book lover would want to have in their computers. Furthermore, it's free!

Pros: You can control the number of blog posts you'd like to download. You can also create "recipes" where you can group posts from a few blogs into one e-book. It's also compatible with a number of readers such as Kindle, Nook and iPad.

Cons: Compared to other applications, you'd need to install the program in your computer. Also, the blog-to-ebook conversion process isn't as straightforward as the web-based applications highlighted above. But I assure you, the effort is worth it!
