I READ with concern the report “Silence is golden in new call scam” (The Star, Dec 4), warning of the latest tactic used by scammers to phish for victims.
When I receive calls from numbers that are not registered in my phone book – and this happens daily – I immediately hang up. I know that if the caller is a friend, he/she would text me via WhatsApp to follow up. I also block the suspicious number immediately.
