Wake-up call for Rapid Rail

I AM a regular commuter on both the Putra Heights Line and Ampang/Sri Petaling Line. I encountered a near stampede at Pudu Station during the service disruption as passengers were being diverted to Pudu and Chan Sow Lin to continue their journeys. Due to a train breaking down, the crowd at Pudu swelled, packing both the upper and lower levels to the brim. Passengers were forced to climb over the station gates, which were closed, to escape the crowd.

Rapid Rail must urgently improve its crisis communication and crowd management procedures. Service delays are understandable, but public safety must never be compromised.
