Dual pricing could harm tourism industry

I READ with concern the recent suggestion to introduce separate pricing for local and foreign tourists. While the intention may be to make domestic travel more affordable for Malaysians, I believe such a policy is short-sighted and could harm our tourism industry in the long run.

Introducing dual pricing is like killing the goose that lays the golden egg. If we read through complaints on major travel sites or Google reviews of restaurants and attractions that already practise two-tier pricing, we will find that many foreign travellers despise this approach. They feel unfairly treated and often say they would not return nor recommend such places to others.
