IN April 2025, while families across the country were celebrating Aidilfitri, life in Putra Heights was shattered in ways none of us could have imagined. The gas blast and fire that raged for close to eight hours tore through our neighbourhood, reducing houses to rubble and damaging many others, including my parents’ home.

The incident left scars that went far beyond the physical; the sense of safety in our community was destroyed overnight.
