Overhaul of department a must to stem corruption

DAY after day, we are confronted with news of Immigration Department officers being arrested for corruption. The scale and frequency of these arrests by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is transforming what should be shocking news into routine updates.

The narrative that this is merely a case of a “few black sheep” does not align with the facts. The staggering amount of cash, gold, branded watches and luxury vehicles seized in the raids point to a deeply embedded culture of corruption within the department.
